PUBLISHER'S CORNER

Yes, my cats have lovely matching wooden bar stools that we place by the windows for them. No, nobody sits on the stools except for Luna and Bella. Yes, we open the curtains for them every morning because the sun pours in; it's where they love to sleep and stretch and soak up the rays. No, it's not terribly aesthetically pleasing to have stools in front of the windows with the curtains askew. Yes, it makes our cats happy. No, we have no evidence that cats can be happy, or sad, but yes, we know they are happy because it's part of the daily dance we do - wake up, feed the cats, pull back the curtains, position the stools, tell them you love them, watch them bask in the warmth of another lovely day, take a photo, share with readers who feel like friends even though some of them probably aren't cat people, but knowing they will understand.

Happy Monday.

Protest! Protest! Protest! Our right to peaceably protest!

Cases such as what is happening in Bow highlight the importance of the First Amendment, and its relevance to our everyday lives. I fully support the right of the People to peaceably protest, but I DO NOT support violence, blockades, or the destruction of other people’s property.

Transcendental Dad: Piano Days have arrived

She began to learn piano, slowly, weekly, on an old electric, stand-up keyboard. She played a grand piano at her lessons. After six months, she sat at a piano at a historic New England church for a recital. She had memorized all four songs she played.

And two months ago, she wrote her first song.

It was time.
