PUBLISHER'S CORNER

The Old Man of the Mountain crumbled not long after I arrived in NH. I never got to see it in real time, but I quickly understood that it was a permanent part of the landscape, even in his absence. And while his chiseled profile was impressive, it's apparently not that unique to have a stone-faced landmark - here or an just about any planet.

Exhibit A: The Perseverance Rover which is on Mars has sent back photos of a rock with a face. Can you see it?

I don't think it will catch on like our Old Man, but it's just creepy enough to be a timely nod to the ghouls of Halloween.

Letters: Why a liberal Democrat supports Republican Denise Ricciardi for NH Senate
Once in a while, a Republican legislator comes along whom I respect as a true “conservative” in that word’s original meaning—such as Senator Denise Ricciardi of Bedford. Sen. Ricciardi is a hero to those of us north of the Notches who are fighting to keep millions of tons of out-of-state trash from being landfilled in a terrible tract near two treasured water bodies.

The Elliot’s lead-screening initiative is saving children’s lives
Unfortunately, lead screening rates have been declining. Since 2019, New Hampshire has seen a 25% drop in lead screening rates for children aged 72-months and younger. At Elliot Health System, we recognized this trend and identified an opportunity to improve care for some of our most vulnerable patients—infants and young children.
