PUBLISHER'S CORNER

Watched a good short series last night on one of the obscure channels on my smart TV – Paramount+, I think. It was called "LOLLA: The Story of Lollapalooza." I found it to be more than educational; it helped me to better understand how culture and music is intertwined through generations.

Even though I remember those times when Lollapallooza got its start, and even though I was running a teen section at the local paper and was plugged into the music undergroun thanks to a bunch of mostly misfit teens, it wasn't my scene - in that it didn't belong to me. But it does explain my affection for bands like Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Living Colour.

What I gained from watching was the rest of the story. Music is a universal spark plug. Chaos and art, defiance and liberation, music and freedom. We find our voices while singing along to the soundtrack of our lives.
