PUBLISHER'S CORNER

Carlo Acutis is about to become the first millennial Catholic saint - he died at the age of 15 after living a life of devotion - to God and to technology, so much so, he earned the nickname "God's Influencer."

The life and times of (soon-to-be) St. Carlo is too extensive for me to detail here and now, but you can read all about it on your own time, if you like.

For me - a non-Catholic - it's a fascinating story of how a person's life is meaured - here on Earth and in whatever reality comes next.

Also it's pretty cool to me that he was a comoputer genius, which contributed to his rising to the rank of saint - the website he left behind, which is part of his legacy, is impressive, even if you're not a Catholic. Check it out.

Voting rights are at risk in New Hampshire

Voting rights are at risk in New Hampshire

As stated in the NH Center for Justice & Equity Policy Platform, “Policy happens for people who participate,” so making it as easy as possible for people to exercise their voting rights is critical. Making voting more accessible, whether through automatic voter registration, no-exception mail-in ballots, or language accessibility, are our policy priorities to strengthen voting rights in New Hampshire. However, the state seems to be moving in the opposite direction as a bill tightening voter identification requirements is headed to the Governor’s desk.
Do political parties add to divisiveness?

Do political parties add to divisiveness?

In following the 2024 presidential campaign, I find myself longing for the days when those seeking political office talked more about the issues than trying to score political points by pointing out the personal imperfections - most of the time some character flaw rather than their abilities - of their opponents, or worse that of their opponents families. I remember when people debated issues, didn’t yell or act hateful, maybe disagreed but respected the other, and when “politician” wasn’t seen as a bad word

Indian summer is like a woman. Ripe, highly passionate, but fickle, she comes and goes as she pleases…” Such is the opening line of Peyton Place, the controversial novel published in 1956 that eventually sold 20 million copies, was turned into a sanitized 1957 major movie that garnered nine Academy Award nominations, and  became a prime-time soap opera that ran for 524 episodes and debuted both Mia Farrow and Ryan O’Neal.

'NH deserves a working-class governor' says Jon Kiper, a restaurateur vying for Democratic gubernatorial nomination

Jon Kiper is the maverick and the long shot in a race paced by former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig and sitting Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington. Unlike Craig and Warmington, who have both taken the pledge to veto a sales or income tax, Kiper has shunned it. “I’m not proposing a broad-based tax,” he said, “but I’m not taking the pledge because it’s stupid.”
