I remain infatuated with postal stamps.
|
My dad was a collector and so at an early age I learned about stuff like the art that goes into them and the importance of first-day-of-issue stamps to a collector. I remember going to the post office with him to pick up new stamps, and he would always find out what was available and then get the "best" ones. Which is why when I go to the post office to get stamps I always ask to look through the books to find the newest most unique and colorful stamps.

So of course I was happy to read this story about a Canadian postal worker who took action when made aware of a post card in need of a stamp. It was a letter from camp from a 12-year-old to her grandparents and without the postal worker going the distance, the post card would have landed in the dead letter bin.
|
Coming from a generation that was well aware of what 'going postal" meant I applaud this particular postal worker for taking the time to sort through all the mail looking for the single unstamped post card, stamping it and sending it on its way.

It is a small thing and it is everything.
