PUBLISHER'S CORNER

Some days things go a bit more smoothly than others. Today, for example, things aren't smooth.

Jim was up before me and possibly the sun - our Bella is under the weather and a trip to the emergency vet at midnight on Tuesday helped a little, but she is still not herself. So Jim was hunting for her in the nooks and crannies of our cavernous house and found her tucked in the closet.

Good news is she came downstairs and drank some water. As you can see above, Luna has risen to the occasion and is stepping up her sister game. In the photo she decided to curl up next to Bella and provide some moral support. Normally, Bella is on my lap and Luna is perched someplace with her green eyes glowing. For the moment, anyway, she's become the Florence Nightengale of felines, and while she still hates to be held by human hands, she is hanging out with Jim and me more and keeping a close eye on Bella. It's pretty sweet.

I'm not playing the sympathy card here - just explaining that I understand as well as anyone that life has a way of interrupting what we think life is, and it feels messy or disrupted or a little worrisome. That, however, is life.

In other news, there were a few key stories that did not populate in today's regularly scheduled newsletter. Why? I have no idea. But because I want to make sure you have what you need to get through the weekend - like the weather report from Rick Gordon, the Weekly Entertainment Report from Rob Dionne and the Weekender from Chelcie Pinsonneault, you are receiving this bonus email today.

If you need me I'll either be coaching Bella back to health or on hold with email robot tech support.
