Watching the Olympics when I was younger was always a thing. Probably moreso than it is now just because it was something we all did - there was no Hulu or Netflix. When a worldwide athletic competition takes over one of the three major TV networks, you're likely going to watch it.
And so, that is probably why I missed last night's opening ceremonies. I'm completely unplugged from network TV. Thanks to the rise of computers and apps, I can get my fill of the Olympics on my own schedule. For instance, I see that you can sign up for a free account to "follow" the Olympics using email or social media.
I admit there's always something incredibly inspiring - and interesting - about watching the teams compete. I always learn something new about other countries and I end up with a sense of hometown USA pride.
If you've got a real appetite for this sort of thing, I encourage you to head over to see our friends at Diz's Cafe tonight 5-9 p.m. They've come up with yet another fun theme night featuring a special one-night-only menu, games and even a special Team USA sundae.
