PUBLISHER'S CORNER

I'm resisting the urge to judge the latest TikTok trend. "Fridgescaping" is apparently a thing where people reorganize the inside of their refrigerators purely for aesthetics.

It appears to involve finding beautiful containers and decanters to display your produce, eggs and, I guess, even your condiments and leftovers.

But people are also adding twinkle lights, floral arrangements and photographs.

You can watch this person - while wearing lace gloves - create a themed fridgescape via Instagram. She chose to add details in the spirit of "Bridgerton."

I don't have time to watch it again –I'm too busy trying to identify the weird things lurking in the back of my fridge.

The Soapbox: Primary voters, be advised: Investigate your candidates

A hobby I don’t understand, however, is attempting to trick voters into selecting a candidate in the primary election by falsely filing under a mainstream party. Yet that seems to be a favorite pastime for Free Staters, a group who answers the question, “What if you took a bunch of Twitter edgelords and rallied them around an untenable goal and a hedgehog emoji?”

The Soapbox: Why I'm voting for Cinde Warmington for governor

We need a governor who is going to fight for solutions to the opioid epidemic, not run a misleading attack campaign about it. That’s why I’m supporting Cinde Warmington for governor and I hope you’ll join me.

Survival of the 'word artist:' Making money as a writer

O P I N I O N FORWARD FOCUS By Brian Chicoine I am often asked what I “do.” I am first and foremost a sarcastic guy who answers with something like, “I’m a sit-down comedian,” or “I collect and refurbish sticks and resell them as nature swords.” I usually get a very confused look from the person asking me, …

Transcendental Dad: The Birdhouse Man, Part 1

Buffalo's East Side is a wreck. When the majestic (and now abandoned) Buffalo Central Terminal was built in the 1920s, it tore the neighborhood apart and signaled the area's slow decline from thriving ethnic neighborhood to neglected urban decay. Today, the neighborhood spills over onto the broken sidewalks and dirty streets like it's been punctured, like the houses and yards and churches are all open, bleeding wounds.

That second BC-1 area, home to the Z1 Xpress gas station, has been the center of controversy in recent years. Residents noted during the meeting that a legal challenge that would allow the gas station to have a drive-thru window. Dead stones, potential live birth

O P I N I O N TINY WHITE BOX By Keith Howard I’m writing this from Windhoek, Namibia, a country that feels like it barely exists, clinging to the southern tip of Africa like a bad habit. If you asked my old classmates, or most of my teachers, why I’m here, they’d guess I’m running—on the lam for something …
