In a collaborative effort to engage local youth and promote community spirit, the Office of Youth Services (OYS) joined hands with MY TURN to organize a three-on-three basketball tournament over the February vacation. The event, tailored for middle and high school-aged youth in the Manchester region, saw enthusiastic participation from 42 energetic players.

For the first time in 50 years the State Boxing and Wrestling Commission will not include Bobby Stephen. The long-time chairman retired last year, ending a remarkable era for combat sports in the Granite State. Originally appointed by Gov. Meldrim Thompson in 1973 to what was then called the “State Athletic Commission, ” Stephen was re-appointed by 10 governors, a testament to his abilities as a commissioner and, perhaps, his greater skill at dodging political hooks and uppercuts.

On Wednesday, the Manchester Board of School Committee (BOSC) Finance and Facilities Committee voted to recommend approval of a five-year contract with Play On/Pixellot to live stream events from Gill Stadium, William “Bill” Meisel Veterans Memorial Field at Manchester West High School, the Clem Lemaire Athletic Complex at Manchester Memorial High School and the gymnasiums of the city’s three public high schools.
