A little more than a year after merging programs, the Manchester Central/West co-op varsity girls basketball team finds itself in the thick of the Division-I playoff race.
Though many of the athletics programs at Manchester West High School are now combined with other Queen City schools, there are still plenty of student athletes taking aim at personal improvement and eam success this winter.
With all Manchester’s varsity high school field hockey and soccer teams eliminated from playoff competition, the last week saw one volleyball semifinal featuring a Queen City team before attention turned to the gridiron where Manchester had three teams competing in postseason action for the first time in more than 20 years.
With a come-from-behind goal in the second half, the Trinity High School boys soccer team was able to force a a 2-2 tie with cross-city rival Manchester West in each team’s final Division-III regular season contest.

Dozens of athletes from Manchester Central and Manchester Memorial high schools competed this weekend at the NHIAA Track and Field Division-I State Championships Saturday at Portsmouth High School, many of them running, sprinting, hurdling, throwing, jumping, leaping or vaulting their way onto the podium.
