Manchester Fire and AMR ambulance crews were sent to 85 S. Lincolnย Street on Oct. 10 just before 9 a.m.ย ย where they found John Velasquezย trapped underneath a vehicle that had slipped from a jack as he worked on it. Velasquez was unable to move and cried out for help.

A neighbor heardย Velasquez’s cries and called 911, summoning a fire crew from Somerville Street Station within two minutes of the call.ย Rescuersย used tools onboard the truck to free Velasquez.

Velasquezย was taken for treatment of chest injuries which appear to be non-life-threatening, according to District Chief Michael Gamache.

“The alert neighbor who summoned assistance in addition to the rapid response and ย quick actions from the members of Station 7, Group #3, saved this man’s life. Any delay in any of these actions would have more than likely contributed to the man sustaining further life-threatening injuries,” wrote Gamache in the incident report.
