While I’ve never been one to gush over the weather, much preferring the dank basement to the great outdoors, last Sunday was an objectively idyllic afternoon to watch live baseball.
Those of you who have been his closest friends are probably aware of some of the experiences he’s had in life, but I don’t think you know his whole story.

The second quality start this season from Richard Gallardo and clutch hits from Jay Harry and Jackson Hornung propelled the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 3-2 Wednesday win in seven innings against the Reading Fightin Phils (16-18) at Delta Dental Stadium. Game two was postponed.
Big offensive nights from Patrick Winkel and Jay Harry powered the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (20-11) to a 9-5 Tuesday night win against the Reading Fightin Phils (16-17) at Delta Dental Stadium. Winkel and Harry both mashed their first home run of the season.
Mark and I are both graduates of Bishop Bradley High School, he in ‘64, I in ‘61. Before we got up from our seats at the Daniel Webster Highway Dunkin’ Donuts, he looked directly at me and asked “We’re both graduates of Bradley. As alumni of the place, what do you think we all have in common? What did the place instill in us?”
Home runs from Victor Arias and Jace Bohrofen were not enough for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (19-11) in a 12-4 Sunday loss against the Portland Sea Dogs (14-18) at Delta Dental Park. Arias’ home run was his first with Fisher Cats in 2026.
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (19-10) walloped three home runs and tallied 19 hits in a 15-13 extra-innings victory against the Portland Sea Dogs (13-18) on Friday night at Delta Dental Park. In the top of the 10th, designated hitter Sean Keys (10) clobbered a go-ahead two run blast, which was enough for the Cats to secure their fourth win of the series.
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (18-10) took both games of a Thursday night doubleheader over the Portland Sea Dogs (13-17) on Thursday night at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field. Game one starter Gage Stanifer (W, 1-2) threw his first five-inning start in Double-A with five scoreless innings to help steer a 4-2 win. In Thursday’s second seven-inning game, the Fisher Cats needed 10 innings to settle the sweep over the Sea Dogs with a 7-5 final.
A go-ahead home run from Aaron Parker and another quality start from Chris McElvain spotlighted the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ 3-2 win against the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday from Hadlock Field. It is the first time McElvain has tossed a quality start in consecutive outings in his career.
A two-run home run from Eddie Micheletti Jr. highlighted a Sunday split, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats took the first game, 4-3, and dropped the second game to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 3-0. Despite two runs in the top of the ninth for the Rumble Ponies, New Hampshire (15-10) hung on to win the resumption of yesterday’s suspension, a game that was paused in the bottom of the fourth to inclement weather. Binghamton (10-17) handed the Fisher Cats their first shutout loss in the season in the series finale.
Richard Gallardo tossed a quality start and New Hampshire’s offense scored 11 runs in a Friday night thumping of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Delta Dental Stadium, 11-4. It was the first time Gallardo reached six innings in an outing since June 9, 2023.
This evening, following a morning and an afternoon of rain showers, Dr. Heavey and I were attempting the 9-9-9 Challenge. For those unfamiliar, the rules are simple—although somewhat convoluted, depending on the source—basically stating that each contestant must finish nine beers and nine hot dogs in the course of a nine-inning baseball game.
Adrian Pinto wacked a leadoff home run but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats dropped their first game of the series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Thursday night at Delta Dental Stadium, 6-3. Pinto’s blast was the first leadoff home run for the Fisher Cats since August 3, 2025 (Victor Arias).
Chris McElvain became the first New Hampshire (13-8) pitcher to record a quality start, and Jay Harry tallied four RBIs as the Fisher Cats completed a doubleheader sweep of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (8-15) on Wednesday night at Delta Dental Stadium, with wins 8-2 and 5-3. McElvain tied a career-high with six strong innings, and Harry has 11 RBIs in his last 10 games.
Jackson Wentworth, Nate Garkow, Irv Carter, and Kai Peterson combined to throw the fifth no-hitter in Fisher Cats history, as New Hampshire blanked the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Tuesday night at Delta Dental Stadium, 6-0. Tuesday’s combined nine-inning no-hitter is New Hampshire’s second in franchise history and their first since May 21, 2012.
