
MANCHESTER — A man sought by police who wasย taken into custody and placed into handcuffs tried to make a quick getaway, but was recaptured quickly by police
On January 7, 2015 at about noonย members of the Manchester Police Detective Unit responded to the area of 273 Central Street in an attempt to locate and arrest Jonathan Sargent, 29, of Manchester.
Sargent had been recently released from Hillsborough County Correctional Facility and detectives, working collectively with members of the Special Investigative Unit and New Hampshire Probation/Parole, were attempting to locate him due to a pending detention order.
Detective Sgt,ย Joe Mucci, along with Detectivesย D. Whelan, Neil Penttinen and Brian Gannon spottedย aย vehicle in the parking lot of Hanโs Food Mart, 353 Maple Streetย with three people seated inside, including one male passenger, who was later positively identified as Sargent. Sargent exited the vehicle and entered the store.
Detectives followed andย placed Sargentย into custody. Sargent was already in handcuffs when he broke the grasp of Detective Penttinen before fleeing on foot. Detectives immediately gave chase and capturedย Sargent again. He was transported to police headquarters where he was booked on multiple charges, including:ย escape, possession of a narcotic drug (twoย fingers of heroin and two capsules of a prescription drug, Clindamycin); possession of a prescription drug; and violation of bail. He was scheduled to appear inย court Jan. 8.
