MANCHESTER, NH โ No school for Manchester School District Feb. 10.
A 48-hour snowfall and mounting piles of snow have made many roads impassable.
In a memo released earlier Monday, the Public Works Department noted that continuous snow has made it difficult to remove snow from city streets.
“If there are any breaks in the weather, of some duration, we will consider snow removal operations. In the meantime, I anticipate posting No Parking signs on many of the narrow streets,” wrote Public Works director Kevin Sheppard.
Many flights were delayed and canceled Monday night at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
Meanwhile, a winter storm advisory remains in effect for Manchester until midnight Monday into Tuesday, and two more storms are on the radar: Thursday and Saturday, with especially heavy snow forecast for Thursday night. You can read the extended forecast here.
Commuters should be aware that Boston has halted MBTA service for Tuesday, due to the snow. It is expected to resume Wednesday. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport remains open but many flights are delayed or canceled due to extenuating weather conditions. Airport officials adviser travelers to check with individual airlines before heading to the airport.
Stick a shovel in me; I’m done.
And while it’s far too early to make predictions, if you do the math using the Weather Underground forecast below, it looks like we could be seeing another foot of snow before it’s all over.
Also, temperatures over the weekend will hover near 0 degrees โ or below โ compounding what has been a cold, snowy, mentally and physically exhausting winter, so far.
Take heart.
