Last year’s cleanup effort resulted in 98 bags of trash collected from around city ponds.

 


MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ For the past 15 years, the Manchester Urban Ponds Restoration Program has organizedย 96 clean-up events with a goal of returning the ponds to their historic uses (such as boating, fishing or swimming).

It’s time again, to raise your hand and get involved.

Over the past 15 years,ย 731ย volunteers have spentย 2,658.75 hours collectingย 1,997 bags of trash. ย This does not include the items illegally โ€œdumpedโ€ such as shopping carts (87), tires (373), car batteries, other car parts, construction debris, and other items.

In addition, the value of volunteer time spent at these clean-ups has amounted to over $54,000 over these past 15 years.

You can get involved individually or by organizing a group from your workplace, school or non-profit organization.

Arrive no later than 8:50 a.m.ย as workย begins promptly at 9ย a.m. Dress for weather (as there are no rain dates) and wear rubber knee boots or hip waders. Trash bags and latex gloves will be provided. Just bring yourself, a friend, and a sense of community spirit.
