MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Theย Alibaba for Mayor campaign is teaming up with local minority groups to raise awareness about the importance of voting with a soccer event July 19 at Rock Rimmon field in Manchester, on the city’s West Side.

Jawed Alibaba Shaikh โ€“ who goes by the name Alibaba โ€“ is owner of Alibaba Whole Foods Festival on Second Street,ย and recently filed his paperwork as a candidate forย mayor. He says he is holding the event to bring people together and reinforce the importance of voting, especially among the city’s newest citizens.

The event reinforces hisย campaign slogan, “All voices should be heard and all voices matter,”ย says Alibaba.

“Manchester has become a melting pot of different cultures.ย  People from all over the world can be found here, however most of the minority communities and young citizens are not informed about the local city elections and how they can voice their opinions and feedback on local policies,” says Alibaba.

The event reinforces hisย campaign slogan, “All voices should be heard and all voices matter,” he says.

“Many of them have families, they pay taxes and their children go to school in the city, but their voices are not being heard.ย  The voting turn out in Manchester is very low and we are finding that it does not represent the actual demographic of the city.ย  It is important that our diverse voices of Manchester are heard in the municipal elections,” he says.

Sunday’s event will bring together eightย community soccer teams on one field. The community event is open to the public.ย The First Cup Series will be heldย from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
