MANCHESTER, NH – A reader and resident of Electric Street asked if we could find out what’s happening with the Piscataquog Trail Bridge, which is supposed to connect Manchester to Goffstown.
The reader mentioned that there had been a lot of activity lately, and then it all just stopped.
We reached out to Don Pinard, head of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, who told us it’s just a temporary lull – work will resume within the next month, and the bridge will be completed by early September.
“All that work going on before was the prep work and side work, done by contractor T-Buck Construction, out of Maine. They went in and did all the preliminary work knowing there was lead time before the steel arrived. Once that order went in, we knew it would be a couple-three months until the steel was delivered,” Pinard said.
He said once the steel gets here, construction of the final 1,500 feet of the project should take about two weeks.
“It’s just a matter of putting the bridge into place, and then everyone will be flocking to Goffstown,” he said.
There will be a ribbon cutting once it’s finished, said Pinard.
