GLENS FALLS, N.Y.ย  โ€“ David Kolomatis scored a power-play goal in overtime to send the Manchester Monarchs home with a come-from-behind, 4-3 overtime victory over the Adirondack Thunder, Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The Monarchs (16-8-0-1) handed the Thunder (14-3-1-1) their first loss when leading after two periods (11-1-0-0) this season.

Adirondack started the scoring late in the first period, when Gunnar Hughes scored his 3rd goal of the season at 18:41.ย  Hughes took a sharp pass from Mitchell Heard in the high slot, and ripped a wrist shot past Monarchs goaltender, Cedrick Desjardins, high blocker.

Yann Sauvรฉ tied things up for the Monarchs while on the power play, scoring his 4th goal of the season at 4:19 of the second period.ย  Sauvรฉ took a saucer pass from Kolomatis, and unleashed a slap shot that beat Adirondack goaltender, Ken Appleby, high glove side.

Alexandre Carrier scored a late power-play goal to put the Thunder back on top at 18:55, scoring his 2nd goal of the season.ย  Carrier took a tape-to-tape pass from Heard out of the right corner, and beat Desjardins with a quick shot through the five-hole.

Adirondack added to their lead, when Ryan Lomberg scored his 6th goal of the season at 10:27 of the final frame.ย  Lomberg won a faceoff to himself and tracked down the puck heading into the left corner.ย  Looking for a centering pass, Lomberg fired the puck off the back of Desjardins, and the puck dropped into the net for the 3-1 Thunder lead.

Gasper Kopitar brought the Monarchs to within one, scoring his 3rd goal of the season at 11:55 of the third period.ย  Kopitar took a pass from Sauvรฉ at the left point, and sent a one-timer low glove side past Appleby.

Matt Leitner tied things up for the Monarchs with :38 seconds to play when he scored his 6th goal of the season.ย  After a shot from Stefan Legein changed direction a few times, Leitner found the puck on his stick just to the right of Appleby, and flipped the puck into the cage to tie the game, 3-3.

Kolomatis ended the game 1:21 into overtime on a power-play goal, his 6th of the season.ย  Legein took a boarding penalty to give the Monarchs the man-advantage, and Kolomatis made the penalty hurt, unloading a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle up and over Applebyโ€™s blocker.

The Monarchs are back in action Sunday (3 p.m.), when they finish their home-and-home series with Adirondack at the Jungle.ย  The Monarchs ask all fans to bring new or lightly used coats with them to donate to the โ€œTeaming Up for Warmth Coat Driveโ€, sponsored by E&R cleaners.
