Winter weather advisory in effect for your afternoon commute

Winter weather advisory

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Just when you thought your lawn was going to make an extended appearance this week, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Jan. 12, between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Snow, possibly heavy at times, with accumulation of 1 to 3 inches across Eastern Hillsborough County with 2 to 4 inches possible across southern Maine. The snow may mix with rain on the coast for a time, becoming heavy at times late Tuesday afternoon before tapering off and ending around midnight.

* Impacts: Slippery travel during the late afternoon and evening commute along with occasionally low visibility. Rapidly changing conditions expected.

* Winds: South 10 to 15 mph becoming west tonight.

* Temperatures: In the 30s, dropping into the 20s overnight.

* Visibilities: One-quarter mile or less at times.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Use caution while driving.
