WHITEFIELD, NH — A Merrimack man was injured March 5 in a rabbit hunting accident.
At approximately 3:32 p.m. on Saturday New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified from Whitefield Police Department that a group of hunters had arrived at the Police Department to report a hunter-related shooting.
Conservation Officers responded to the police department and documented the incident in which Daniel Hebert, 51, of Merrimack, was hunting rabbits off of Hazen Road in Whitefield when he was shot inadvertently by 52 year old Dan Sterling of Bedford, who was in the same hunting party.
Hebert’s injury was documented at the Police Department and was noted to be minor to non-existent. Hebert’s jacket was also examined and there were no penetration holes in the jacket to show where a pellet had went through, which was consistent with the injury. The incident is still under investigation however there were no charges filed against any hunters in the party.
