Spring is in full bloom, and what better time than now to unleash some classic and cult films that you all shall enjoy.
This particular list for March found more on the cult side than on the classics side. Needless to say, some of the following movies are signified classics, and deserve to be watched again and again. Some simply fell off the radar and were never mentioned again.
Repo Man: Release Date: March 2nd, 1984
One of the most ’80s movies of all time, Repo Man starring Emilio Estevez is easily forgotten on the big scale, but cult fans still adore this movie to pieces, as they should. It has its charm and dazzle, with its weirdness all packed in there.
This is Spinal Tap: Release Date: March 2nd, 1984
The best mockumentary ever made. This is Spinal Tap is timeless and endless on satirical comedy. There is just so much to observe and laugh about in this movie I lose it every time when they pull out Stonehenge.
The Jacket: Release Date: March 4th, 2005
I get a truly deep sensation watching this movie. This writing is raw and just original. Something is just so unique and pure with this film. The story takes an uncanny approach with maybe a little cliched predictability, but enjoying it for what it is, it’s a must watch.
The Big Lebowski: Release Date: March 6th, 1998
This is a cult movie fan’s pride and joy! Along with “Eraserhead,” this is up there for being favorites from big cult movie fans. “The Dude” is personified as someone you just want to hangout with while you string a couple games of bowling and sip on white Russians. You can begin to see why this movie has become a sensation all these years later. You may be someone who watches this and sees no appeal to it, and can’t find any basis for all the hype. My advice: Try watching it again. You may be in the camp that has always embraced this movie for what it is. But did you know there is even a religion based on this movie called Dudeism? Alrighty, then.
Limitless: Release Date: March 8th, 2011
An adventure, and a trivial mind game with a pill delivers all that you all that you want, and more, starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. I am a huge fan of this movie, and I think the whole plot carried itself well. The concept is just sensational, it builds to a thrilling conclusion, and leaves you wanting more. “Limitless” has now became a TV show, and there is even a drug on the market currently called brain peak that likens itself to the pill from “Limitless.” Interesting..
Memento: Release Date: March 16th, 2000
This movie I feel has gone unnoticed entirely since its 2000 release, and I can’t understand why. It’s Christopher Nolan’s second film and it is spell binding and revolutionary. Lenny the main character can only remember up to five minutes and his short-term memory refreshes to the same place it started. If you haven’t seen this, it is a must-add to your movie queue, as the entire movie goes from end to the beginning in the opposite order. One of my all time favorites.
V For Vendetta: Release Date: March 17th, 2005
Within the 10 years of this movie being made, I’d say it is well on its way to becoming a classic. There’s just something epic and mysteriously telling about this movie that you could watch over and over.
