On Tuesday, Manchester Monarchs forward Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman was selected as the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 29 to Feb. 4.
This marks the second time he has earned the honor this season.
LaVallee-Smotherman recorded his first ECHL hat trick on Saturday against Adirondack, finishing a week with 11 points in three games.
As of Wednesday, LaVallee-Smotherman stands second in the ECHL with 52 points in 46 games (26 goals, 26 assists.)
A native of Corvallis, Oregon, LaVallee-Smotherman has 72 points in 64 career ECHL games with Manchester while adding 165 points in 373 career AmericanโHockey League games with Chicago, Syracuse, Providence and Springfield. He also has four games of National Hockey League experience with Atlanta, notching a goal and an assist.
This season marks his most productive to date, but LaVallee-Smotherman believes itโs still too soon if he could grab a league scoring title.
โI take it one game at a time, weโll see as the season goes on,โ he said following the Adirondack game. โIโve been hot with the line mates that Iโve got right now and Iโll see if I can keep that going.โ
On Smothermanโs behalf,ย a case of pucks will be donated to a Manchester youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockeyย has donated more than 37,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
