Former Fisher Cats figure prominently in poor day for Toronto

LAKELAND, Fla. – On Sunday, the Toronto Blue Jays dropped their second game in as many days to the Detroit Tigers, losing 6-3.

It wasn’t a good day for the Blue Jays, but some of the best days came from those who stopped in Manchester during their rise through Toronto’s farm system.

Toronto grabbed only five hits on the day, with three coming from former Fisher Cats (Kevin Pillar – 2013, Devon Travis – 2015, and Reese McGuire – 2016, 2017)

Each one of the ten pitchers Toronto used during the contest played for the Fisher Cats at some point outside of non-roster invitee Reiner Cruz and 2015 draft pick Jackson McClelland.

The four 2017 Fisher Cats combined for 3 1/3 innings of work, allowing a combined three hits and two runs.

Toronto heads to Port Charlotte on Monday for a 1:05 p.m. contest against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
