BEDFORD, NH โ It’s tick season, when those tiny little disease-carrying interlopers try to hitch a ride on human transportation systems to find their next meal.
Bedford companyย LYMEEZยฎ is touting a product they say helps outdoorsy folks enjoy gardening or recreating with less worry โย 3D-mesh Tick Gaiters, designed toย slow the climbย of deer ticks by four-to-eight times over common pant fabrics. A slower climb means longer exposure to the microencapsulated repellent on each fiber of the gaiters, according to the company’s website.
Tick Gaiters are used by thousands of outdoor workers of local, state and federal agencies, and private utilities and outdoor recreationists of all types.

According to the CDC, tick-borne diseases are on the rise, with a dramatic increase in the incidence and geographic range ofย Lymeย disease across the U.S., with cases reported in all 50 states. Tick-borne illnesses are endemic in one-third to one-half of the country.
Tick Gaiters use “intelligent textile technology,” infusing every fiber with micro-encapsulated permethrin. Movement and friction cause some of the millions of microcapsules to burst, gradually releasing the repellent.
Tick Gaiters are one-size-fits-all 12-inch high breathable leg wraps sewn and treated in theย U.S. Learn more here.
