MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ After a drubbing against Adirondack earlier in the week, the Manchester Monarchs bounced back with a critical 3-2 win over divisional rival Maine on Friday night.

Although Greg Chase put Maine on the board first with a goal 15:15 into the first period, the Monarchs went into the first intermission tied up after Cory Wardโ€™s 12th goal of the year.

Manchester obtained goals from Drake Rymsha and Michael Doherty in the second period. The Monarchs managed to hang on in the third period despite a power-play goal from Maineโ€™s Michael McNicholas that went above Manchester goaltender Charles Williams before bouncing off the crossbar and into the net.

Williams ended the night with 41 saves.

Manchester (23-19-1-1) maintains their tenuous hold on one of the fourth ECHL North Division playoff spots with the win, tied with Brampton for third place and just two points ahead of Reading.

The Monarchs return to action Saturday, February 2 at 7 p.m., when they take on the Reading Royals at Santander Arena.
