MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ The Manchester Monarchs now stand just one win away from advancing into the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs thanks to a 3-2 overtime win against the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday night.

Manchester struck first on Drake Rymshaโ€™s first goal of the playoffs 14:52 into the first period, and thatโ€™s where the game would stay until after the first intermission.

Adirondack did strike back in the second period however, with Cullen Bradshaw collecting a pair of power play goals put the Thunder in the lead.

The Monarchs tied things up again before the conclusion of the second period thanks to Mike Dohertyโ€™s second goal of the playoffs, pouncing on a rebound from Sam Kurkerโ€™s backhand shot to place the puck under the leg of Thunder goaltender Evan Cormier.

Neither team could take the advantage in the third period, with Kevin Dufour providing the difference 6:17 into overtime.

Manchester seeks to close out the series on Friday with Game Four at SNHU Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. If they win, they would likely face the Newfoundland Growlers, who hold a 3-0 series lead against the Brampton Beast.
