CONCORD, N.H. โ€“ New Hampshire Department of Education commissioner Frank Edelblut announced today that $1.5 million in unused Title I and Title II funds are being sent back to New Hampshire school districts.

Over 100 projects across the state are receiving the unused funding following the announcement.

โ€œI understand that sometimes school districts are not always able to use every dollar of federal grants before they expire. This reallocation sends this money back to New Hampshire schools,โ€ Edelblut explained. โ€œBefore we ask taxpayers to pay more, we should always make sure we are making the best use of money they have already provided.โ€

Earlier this month, Edelblut announced an agreement with the federal Department of Education to reallocate $10.3 million in special education grants. Todayโ€™s announcement includes an additional $1.5 million in unused federal funds from previously-awarded Title I and Title II grants.

$120,506 of the Title II funding will go toward a consultant and summer reading program materials in Manchester.
