It’s September 20, 2019. Here’s what’s been going on lately in Saint Anselm sports.
Men’s Soccer
Outside of women’s tennis, the only other Saint Anselm team in action on Tuesday night was the men’s soccer team, which won 3-1 over Saint Michael’s.
Sophomore Taylor Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) scored goals in the 20th and 65th minutes, with an additional goal coming off a Saint Michael’s defender in the 63rd minute for the third score.
With four straight wins, the Hawks have tied the 1999 team as the only group to have not earned a draw in their unbeaten starts in program history.
After the game, the team found themselves in 10th in the United Soccer Coaches East Region Coaches’ Poll, the first time they’ve reached that level since Sept. 15, 2015.
Women’s Soccer
The Hawks remained undefeated for 2019 after defeating Post, 4-1. In addition to a 61st minute own goal surrendered by Post, Saint Anselm took a goal from sophomore Regan Pratt (Newburyport, Mass.) just 19 seconds into the contest, followed by goals from senior Roshelle Morrison (Limerick, Maine) and Bailey Conti (Walpole, Mass.)
Saint Anselm improved to 3-0-2 and will host the Panthers of Adelphi University on Saturday, Sept. 21 for a 1 p.m. matchup.
Field Hockey
Saint Anselm’s nationally-ranked field hockey team cruised to a 5-0 victory over Bentley at home on Wednesday.
It’s their fourth straight win without a loss this year and their fourth game without a goal allowed.
The Hawks’ five goals came from senior Hannah Friend (North Easton, Mass.), senior Michelle Lemelin (Chelsea, Maine), sophomore Carly Lacasse (Sagamore Beach, Mass.), junior Ericka Meissner (Falmouth, Mass.) and senior Kaeleigh Lord (Keene, N.H.)
Saint Anselm returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 21, hosting Molloy at 11 a.m.
