Beyond a long-awaited football win, here are some more weekend updates from the world of Saint Anselm sports.
Cross Country
Boston’s Franklin Park held disappointing results as the women’s and men’s cross country teams finished 19th and 24th respectively at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Cross Country Championship.
On the men’s side, junior Jordan Cook (Biddeford, Maine) led the Hawks with a time of 27:25, good for 129th in the field of 170 individual participants.
For the women, freshman Christine Toy (Standish, Maine) led all Saint Anselm entrants with a 5K time of 19:08, good for 52nd out of 154 entrants.
Next up for cross country is the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Lafayette, N.Y.
Women’s Volleyball
The Hawks easily took down one-win Saint Michael’s on Saturday with a three-set victory.
Freshman Lois Dogbe (Winchester, Calif) posted a career and team-high eight kills and freshman Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) set 20 of the team’s 42 kills.
The Hawks (11-7, 3-1 NE-10) next face Southern New Hampshire in a Queen City Cup matchup on Tuesday.
Women’s Tennis
Only an incomplete roster stopped Saint Anselm from being blanked at the hands of Adelphi on Saturday. The Hawks dropped two of three doubles matches and all of their singles matches that were played.
Freshman Anastasia Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine) was the only Hawk to win a set, falling 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 in her match.
The Hawks end the regular season with a 3-10 record.
