Man charged in connection with Nov. 1 alleged assault on Elm Street

Police have made an arrest in an assault reported Nov. 1 at Elm and Concord streets.

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ On November 9, 2022, Manchester Police arrested a city man in connection with an assault that took place earlier this month.

Derek King, 25, of Manchester, who was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, and 1 count of attempted first-degree assault.

On November 1, 2022, shortly after 2 a.m., officers were flagged down by a man at Elm and Concord streets who told police that he had been assaulted. He explained that he was walking on Elm Street when a man he didn’t know stopped him. During their interaction, the man got angry and hit him multiple times with a stick described as similar to a collapsible baton.

The victim went to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police through surveillance video of the area and tips from social media identified the suspect as King.

Anyone accused of a crime is innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
