MANCHESTER, NH – “When math improves, so does everything else,” says Dr. Scott Methe, the new owner of North Manchester’s Mathnasium—a neighborhood learning center that helps students of all ages understand and master math.
Located in the North Side Plaza at 79 Bicentennial Drive in North Manchester, Mathnasium has offered after-school, weekend, and summer programs to hundreds of students since 2013. The center’s former owner retired in February, when Dr. Methe purchased the center.

“I was fortunate to inherit a well-running center with proven results and dozens of great reviews from current and former parents,” he adds. When asked what Mathnasium is all about, Dr. Methe focuses on the big picture, “our job is to help our schools and parents do their jobs, which often means repairing student confidence or finding new ways to challenge students to deeply understand math,” says Dr. Methe, who earned a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
“Doors to a healthy future open and close on the back of school math success,” adds Dr. Methe, who believes that Mathnasium offers necessary services to support a thriving local economy. “Students who leave school without solid math skills will struggle a lot more than previous generations did in their college and job searches.”
Reports show that jobs in technology, science, and engineering will outgrow all other jobs by 3-to-1 in the coming decade. Mathnasium is actively seeking community and business partners with mutual interests in helping local students learn to appreciate math.
“We’re in a position to help rewrite the tired old story about failing public schools and low test scores,” adds Dr. Methe, who says that “math is the rising tide that lifts all boats.” Mathnasium will host its grand re-opening ceremony on Wednesday, May 17 at 3 p.m. at their North Manchester location. The event is open to the public and will feature an appearance by Mayor Gatsas along with refreshments, tours, and exhibits. For a limited time, Mathnasium will also offer free month-long trials of their drop-in tutoring services.
“We want people to see results for themselves,” says Dr. Methe.
