
GOFFSTOWN, NH – A contractor working in a bucket truck on Mast Road was injured after an incident involving a tractor-trailer early Thursday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the area of 741 Mast Road on Dec. 19 or a report of a utility truck stuck by a tractor-trailer.
According to Goffstown Police Lt. Thomas Hammond, a contractor who had been working in the bucket of a utility truck was knocked out of the bucket and thrown to the ground from the impact, landing next to a utility pole that had been severed by the crash.
Precautions were taken due to live power lines above the victim.
The contractor was able to talk to the responders after recovering from the initial shock of the fall. A trauma alert was activated at Elliot Hospital where he was transported with serious injuries, including a head injury.
The tractor-trailer, which was traveling north on Mast Road struck some part of the bucket truck, spinning it into a building, and breaking the bucket off the utility truck.
The driver of the truck did not require transport and was assessed at the scene by fire and EMS.
At the time of the accident there was significant solar glare from the sun and the reflection from the wet pavement, it is unknown if this was a contributing factor. Lt. Hammond said that is all part of the ongoing investigation.
The cab and trailer of the tractor-trailer indicated it was connected to HP Hood dairy company.
Hammond said Mast Road would remain closed, likely for 6-8 hours, while repairs to the broken pole are made and the accident is investigated. New Hampshire State Police are assisting in the investigation. commercial.
