MANCHESTER, NH – The Currier Museum of Art will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event rooted in art and community on Monday, January 20 to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., the vision of Black American artists, and the power of self-expression.
Hosted in partnership with volunteers from the Racial Unity Team and generously supported by Citizens. Bank, this event is free and open to the public. The full day of programming includes:
- Educator-designed art activity focused on representation and connection
- Tours of Black American artists in the Currier collection
- A presentation from Southern New Hampshire University history professor Dr. Kenneth Nivison, “The Promissory Note: Selma, Voting Rights, and the Work of Equality”
- Spoken word poetry performed by Manchester West High School students, on behalf of the Racial Unity Team
