MANCHESTER, NH – The last day of municipal election candidate filing was a big finish, as 16 new candidates stepped forward.
There are now a total of six candidates vying for two At-Large alderman seats and four for At-Large school committee. Among them, several names will be familiar to Manchester voters, including Elizabeth Moreau, a former alderman now seeking a seat on the school committee, and June Trisciani, who gave up her At-Large aldermanic seat to run for mayor two years ago, and on Friday filed to return to that post. Kathleen Kelley is making a comeback as At-Large school committee member.
There are four aldermanic candidates for Wards 1 and 3, and three aldermanic candidates for Wards 6 and 8. There are two uncontested school committee races, in wards 7 where incumbent Chris Potter is unopposed, and in Ward 10 where Gary Hamer is the lone candidate.
There was also a unique filing – Zachariah Tringali, who is “unhoused,” filed to run in Ward 6, but not before consulting with the city solicitor and the ACLU, who deemed his current Ward 6 “domicile” – in the woods out by Green Meadow Lane – sufficient.
And of note in Ward 11, Lucas Miller filed for Selectman. The name may not be familiar, but the political legacy is real. Miller is the grandson of former Mayor and current School Board member Bob Baines, and nephew of former Alderman Tim Baines.
