Vandalism strikes Hopknot: ‘Swastika’ left on door of downtown business

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Manchester Police are investigating an incident of vandalism at The Hop Knot on Elm Street in which a person drew a swastika on the front door.

The damage was discovered in the early morning hours of August 7, 2025, according to a police press release issued Monday.

Police also said a suspect has been identified, but did not elaborate.

Video footage circulating on social media shows a man approaching the business and lingering in the front of the business before walking away, toward the camera. That image has been shared over the past several days, however police did not acknowledge that in their press release.

The Hopknot is a black-owned, queer-inclusive space.ย Owner Kenny Frasch was on vacation last week and, when contacted, said he is just now catching up with the situation.

Video shared on Facebook by Cady Hickman.

Police say detectives are examining all possible motives and intent.

“Our department is committed to a thorough and transparent investigation, and we will share additional details as they are confirmed,” the news release said.

Manchester Police are in contact with the Attorney General’s Civil Rights Unit regarding this investigation. They urge anyone with information to contact police or submit an anonymous tip through Manchester Crimeline at 603-624-4040.
