Heat Wave
Get ready for two days of record-breaking heatโtoday, and tomorrowโas the heat wave continues through Thursday. With the heat wave this week, here are some essential safety tips to keep yourself protected during extreme heat conditions.
โ๏ธ Stay Cool Spend time in air-conditioned places, such as malls, libraries, or cooling centers. If you donโt have AC, take cool showers or baths and use wet clothes on your wrists, neck, and temples. Avoid using ovens or stoves, which can heat up your home.
๐ง Stay Hydrated Drink water regularlyโabout a cup every 20 minutesโeven if youโre not thirsty. Avoid sugary, caffeinated, or alcoholic drinks. Include snacks or electrolyte drinks if youโre sweating heavily.
๐ Dress Smart Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes made of breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. Use wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses for sun protection. ๐ Time Your Activities Avoid strenuous outdoor activities between 10 AM and 4 PM. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade and drink water often.
