MANCHESTER, NH – The Department of Public Works (DPW) and the New Hampshire  Department of Transportation (NHDOT) have agreed to implement a revised lane configuration on Daniel Webster Highway southbound off Exit 9S, bringing significant improvements to  traffic flow in the North End.

Under the new striping plan, all vehicles turning right onto Campbell Street will have their  own dedicated lane as well as vehicles traveling straight or turning left that will each have their  own separate lane.

“This project has been one of my top priorities since being elected in 2023,” said Ward 1 Alderman Chris Morgan. “It is going to make a noticeable difference for everyone driving into the  North End. This is a true game changer for traffic flow, safety, and accessibility in our  community.”

The primary benefits of the revised striping plan include:

● Increasing queue capacity for the right-turn lane from 100 feet to 450 feet.

● Reducing the likelihood of the right-turn lane being blocked by thru traffic.

● Expanding the solid left-turn lane from 150 feet to 450 feet and adding advanced signage  to ensure the left lane must turn left—reducing last-minute lane changes near the  intersection.

“I want to thank Kristen Clarke and Caleb Dobbins of Manchester DPW for their hard  work in making this happen,” Morgan added. “These improvements are the result of  listening to residents and collaborating with both city and state partners to get results.”

Construction and restriping are expected to be completed in the coming months, with minimal  disruption to existing traffic during the work period.
