MANCHESTER, N.H. – Alderman At-Large Joseph Levasseur has rescinded the resignation of his chairmanship of the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The resignation cancelled a second special meeting of the board earlier in the week.

Levasseur released the following announcement on Saturday, Sept. 20 in an email to fellow board members.

I am unstepping down from my Chairmanship.  I still consider myself your chairman until you take a public vote on October 7th and not before.  Too many lies were told to me and others about what this meeting was about. Since this story has come out, I have learned a lot more about the lies they made up to hold a secret meeting, it wasnโ€™t about an employee it was all about me and what can or cannot be said on social media Since itโ€™s about me, then I demand it be in public. On October 7th. I always wanted this done in public, but my request was refused and someone kept making the meetings non public. Letโ€™s now have this discussion in public. I would appreciate all of you responding to this email with a yes, you want a public vote on October 7th. In any event I am the chairman until that vote.  You all deserve to take the vote in public to oust me.  Thank you.
