Kitchen fire damages Amherst Street home

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ย No injuries reported after a kitchen fire did damage to an Amherst Street residence.

Companies were dispatched to the location of Lincoln and Amherstย streets for a reported building fire; caller stated they could see fire from their rear porch. Engine 11 arrivedย  on scene and reported smoke showing from 385 Amherst St.

No occupants of the fireย  apartment were home at the time, crews advanced a hose line and forced entry to the second floor to confine and extinguish the fire quickly. Fire was located in the kitchen area and wasย  contained to the room of origin with no extension in any direction. Building was ventilated andย  occupants were able to return to their apartments.ย

  • Special Circumstances: Congested area of the city with narrow streets making apparatusย placement challenging. Light rain conditions.ย
