New Year’s Day will be cold and windy, with a mix of sun and clouds and occasional passing flurries. The morning high will be around 27 before temperatures drop to near 15, feeling more like 3. Northwest winds will blow at 20 to over 30 mph.

By late next week, temperatures will finally climb back above normal, reaching highs in the upper 30s.

Elevations for summits above 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits will be hidden, with snow likely in the morning. Highs will range from 6 to 16 degrees above, with west winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 65 mph. Thereโ€™s a 60 percent chance of snow, and wind chills could drop as low as 45 below.

Elevations between 2,500 and 4,000 feet in Northern New Hampshire today: Summits will be hidden, with a chance of morning snow. Highs near 14, and west winds blowing at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph. Thereโ€™s a 50 percent chance of snow, and wind chills could drop as low as 31 below.
