Coalition of NH advocacy groups to protest Free State Project agenda at State House

CONCORD, NH โ€” On March 5, a coalition of prominent New Hampshire advocacy organizations will gather in front of the State House arch from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. to protest the Free State Project (FSP) attempts, among other things, to dismantle public education, downshift state costs onto local property taxes, and usurp local control of budgets and zoning.

The demonstration, titled “NH is NOT your Free State Project,” highlights growing public concern over the FSPโ€™s wide-ranging agenda that does not align with the values and priorities of the majority of Granite Staters.

The protest is sponsored by a broad coalition including:

  • Kent Street Coalition
  • 50501 NH
  • Third Act NH
  • Southern NH Indivisible
  • Granite State Matters

The Free State Project was founded in 2001 with the explicit goal of recruiting 5,000 individuals to move to a small state. They chose New Hampshire as the easiest target to seize control of government and transform it into a “libertarian utopia.” Working alongside its political arm, the NH Liberty Alliance, the movement claims responsibility for legislation such as expanding vouchers to include the wealthiest families in the state. The timing of the protest coincides with a 3 p.m. State House tour hosted by the FSP for attendees of its annual conference, which takes place in Concord this weekend.

“New Hampshireโ€™s governance should reflect the needs of its long-term residents, not the ideological experiments of an outside movement,” the coalition stated. “We are standing together to declare that our state is not a laboratory for the Free State Project’s agenda.”

Members of the public and the press are invited to attend.
