Manchester man arrested after leading police on pursuit in stolen vehicle


HOOKSETT, NH โ€“ A Manchester man accused of stealing a vehicle from Cambridge, Mass., is being held without bail, following a police pursuit that ended in Manchester.

Hooksett Police officers on May 13 were made aware that the Franklin, NH, police were involved in a pursuit of a vehicle that was reportedly stolen out of the Cambridge, Mass. At around 5:30 a.m., a Hooksett police officer on patrol in the area of Hooksett Road and Interstate 93 observed the stolen vehicle speeding and attempted to stop it. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as David Virgue, 38, of Manchester, refused to stop and fled into Manchester.

According to police, Virgue eventually stopped in the area of Beech and Hanover streets and attempted to walk away. Virgue refused to comply with the officerโ€™s commands to stop, and so the officer used a taser and took Virgue into custody without further incident.

Virgue was charged with receiving stolen property (felony), disobeying a police officer (misdemeanor), resisting arrest or detention (misdemeanor), driving after revocation (violation), speed (violation), and traffic control device (violation).

Virgue also had an active warrant for his arrest for violation of a protection order issued out of the Tilton. He was held without bail and sent to the Merrimack County House of Correction to await arraignment.ย
