MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Dartmouth Cancer Center held their 2nd annual Community Walk on Saturday May 16 at their 100 Hitchcock Way clinic in Manchester. Nearly $93,000 was raised to fund support services for patients and their families undergoing treatment at Dartmouth Cancer Center locations in southern New Hampshire. These services include support groups, massage therapy, education workshops, exercise classes, transportation assistance such as gas cards and grocery gift cards for patients with food insecurity. The event included a one-mile walk and community celebration with refreshments and activities for children.
โWe strongly believe in the importance of receiving quality cancer care close to home,โ said Christi A. Hayes, MD, medical director of Dartmouth Cancer Center in Manchester and Nashua, during the opening ceremony. โAll funds raised for this event will stay in the Dartmouth Cancer Center Manchester and Nashua locations, supporting meaningful patient and family support services. Itโs a wonderful way to support and celebrate the patients in our community.โ
The event is part of the 45th annual Prouty, which aims to raise $12 million this year to advance life-saving cancer research and patient support services at Dartmouth Cancer Center. All funds raised are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match from the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation, doubling their impact.
