MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Former Manchester Ward 1 Alderman Chris Morgan has officially filed as a candidate for New Hampshire State Representative representing Ward 1.

A lifelong Manchester resident, community leader, and youth sports advocate, Morgan said his decision to run is driven by a desire to continue serving the residents of Ward 1

while bringing common-sense solutions to issues that impact Manchester families, neighborhoods, and taxpayers.

โ€œServing Ward 1 as Alderman was one of the greatest honors of my life,โ€ said Morgan. โ€œDuring my time on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, there were many issues affecting

our neighborhoods that simply could not be solved at the local level. Those solutions required action in Concord. That is why I have decided to run for State Representative.โ€

Morgan cited public safety, education funding, business tax relief, and reducing unfunded mandates on cities and towns among his top priorities.

โ€œOne example is bail reform,โ€ Morgan said. โ€œFor years, communities like Manchester dealt with policies that allowed repeat offenders to be released too easily. I supported efforts to

strengthen our bail laws and make public safety a priority. We need leaders who will stand up for victims, law enforcement, and safe communities.โ€

Morgan also pledged to advocate for increased state support for public education while working to reduce the burden placed on local property taxpayers.

โ€œManchester taxpayers cannot continue to shoulder the growing cost of services and requirements imposed from outside the local level,โ€ Morgan said. โ€œWhen state or federal

governments require municipalities to provide services, implement programs, or meet new regulatory requirements, they should provide adequate funding to support those

obligations. We need meaningful business tax relief, stronger support for public education, and policies that reduce pressure on local budgets and help lower property taxes.โ€

Executive Councilor John Stephen, who represents District 4, endorsed Morganโ€™s candidacy.

โ€œChris Morgan is a proven community leader who has spent years serving the people of Manchester and advocating for the issues that matter most to local families,โ€ said John

Stephen. โ€œHe understands the challenges facing Ward 1, shares the values that make New Hampshire strong, and has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the community.

Chris will bring common-sense leadership, strong values, and practical solutions to Concord, and I am proud to support his candidacy for State Representative.โ€

Morgan has remained active in the community through youth sports organizations, neighborhood initiatives, park improvement efforts, and constituent advocacy.

โ€œIโ€™ve always believed elected officials should be accessible, responsive, and focused on results,โ€ Morgan said. โ€œMy commitment is simple: listen to residents, work hard, and bring

common sense to the issues that matter most to the people of Ward 1.โ€
