Wednesday, July 19 saw a third mayoral candidate as well as several other new additions to ballots across the city this fall that Manchester voters will have to examine.

Filing ends on Friday, July 14. The non-partisan municipal Primary election is on Sept. 19, with voters choosing two candidates for Mayor as well as Aldermen and Board of School Committee members in each ward and at-large. The Municipal Election is on Nov. 7, where voters will vote for Mayor as well as Moderators, Clerks, Aldermen, Board of School Committee Members and three Selectmen for each ward and two at-large Aldermen and Board of School Committee Members.

Last week, former Manchester Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Kevin Sheppard officially declared his candidacy to become the next Alderman from Ward 1.

A proposed school bus storage facility drawing the concern of neighbors will now have a fourth hearing in August.

Filing ends on Friday, July 14.

On Monday, Bob Baines filed to run for the Ward 9 Board of School Committee seat in this fall’s municipal election.

In an 8-5 vote, the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to receive and file a referendum that would place a question to voters regarding the complete independence of the Manchester School District from the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA), effectively killing the proposal for the near future.
