As we wind down the holiday season and 2022, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on a new report released by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) and our Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman. As the Regional Administrator for New England, it was my honor to be appointed to this role by the President a year ago to work closely with businesses, local, state, and federal officials to lead our way out of the pandemic.

This year, Small Business Saturday will be held on November 26th, marking the 13th celebration of this event. Celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday is a way for consumers to make an impact in their community by supporting independently-owned businesses during the holiday season. The SBA is proud to be a cosponsor of Small Business Saturday, which was founded by American Express in 2010.

The contributions Hispanic business owners have made to entrepreneurship in the U.S. are indispensable. According to the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau, there are about 350,000 Hispanic-owned employer businesses across the U.S with an estimated $463.3 billion in annual receipts, 2.9 million employees and about $108.4 billion in annual payroll. In New England, there are more than 96,000 Hispanic-owned small businesses.
