If SB 416 passes, management could require tip-pooling and could decide how to distribute a server’s tips to other workers. Restaurants do have the option to maintain the status quo and many will do that. But others might take advantage of the new laws. Even under current laws we’ve seen restaurants of all kinds accused of wage theft or worse for not disbursing tips appropriately to workers.
I’ve lived in my neighborhood my whole life and I’ve been in my current home in Ward 5 for 43 years. During that time I’ve seen a lot of changes. One change I am currently very excited about is the prospect of having Jason Bonilla as my Alderman.
Even with current protections in place, approximately 400 evictions occur every month in New Hampshire. We need that number to go down, not up. It’s clear that urgent legislative action is needed to protect renters. We cannot ignore the human suffering caused by policies prioritizing landlords’ interests over tenants’ rights. The time for action is now.
New Hampshire’s roads and bridges belong to all of us. They are built and maintained with public money. Boston Express receives public subsidies. When these public goods are not meeting our needs, we need to speak up and let the public officials who are in charge know.
