Ice storm this morning with a quarter to a half-inch of freezing rain accumulation for southern New Hampshire. Heavy sleet with an inch to an inch and a half on top of the freezing rain before it changes to snow by late morning. This leads to an extremely difficult commute this morning with icy conditions. This mess transitions to all snow (3-5″ of sleet & snow) over southern New Hampshire during the day.

A cold front will move southward out of Canada later today with much colder temperatures expected. Low pressure moving along that front to the south will likely bring New Hampshire mixed precipitation flipping to snow by tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning’s rush hours will have snow-covered roads. Watch out for ice under the snow.

High pressure will keep New Hampshire clear and cold. Wind chills will be bitter in the morning, but gusts should slacken through the mid-morning hours. Any early morning travelers should be aware of freshly blown snow on roadways. Densely packed drifts can quickly cause vehicles to become out of control.

An all-snow nor’easter will track through much of New England today. Snowfall intensities of 1 to 2 inches per hour combined with wind gusts over 40 mph will create blizzard-like conditions. This will lead to near whiteout conditions with travel not advised. The chance for splash over or dune erosion surrounding the time of high tides today along the coast. The worst of the storm is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
