Colder air on a gusty wind will move in behind the exiting storm as it tracks into the Canadian Maritimes today. High pressure will crest over New England tonight with temperatures in the single digits.
Snow this morning will change to rain by 8 AM the winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph. During the afternoon mostly cloudy with temperatures in the low 40s. Tonight, a flash freeze is possible, so make sure you clean up the slush.
The next storm system will track up the East Coast tonight into MLK Day with a significant winter storm with heavy wet snow north and west of Manchester and snow changing to rain by 7 a.m. for Manchester to the seacoast.
Despite high pressure and sunny conditions, frigid early morning temperatures only warm to high around 10. So, the main story for today will be the continuation of blustery to gusty winds, Arctic cold, and very low wind chills.
Low pressure tracking well offshore in the Atlantic will give us mostly cloudy conditions today. As the low strengthens east of Cape Cod it will pull down a brutally cold Arctic air mass out of Canada and into New England tonight and tomorrow.
Today will be even warmer than yesterday with highs around 40 along with light winds. Turning colder tomorrow with the warmest temperatures in the morning with tumbling temperatures in the afternoon.
Temperatures today will moderate closer to normal with highs in the low 30s. Today will be breezy but not expecting the frigid wind chills as we saw yesterday.
The coldest air of the season so far continues to move in and lasts through tomorrow morning. Northwest winds are expected to be steady through this morning continuing to bring dangerous wind chills through 10 a.m.. Winds will subside this afternoon as high pressure builds in. Highs will struggle to get near 10 degrees.
An arctic cold front will move across New Hampshire during the day. This will allow for a period of snow showers or squalls late in the day and could affect the evening commute.
A weak system will quickly move through New England today with a light mix of snow, sleet, and light freezing rain. Slick conditions can be expected mainly during the morning.
