Army and Air National Guard cyber defense teams from across New England will test their skills during a formidable exercise designed to simulate response to cyberattacks.
The bolstered mission now features 15 warehouse warriors. Daily duties include stacking boxes, driving forklifts, loading trucks and delivering orders to distribution centers in Newbury, Londonderry, Epping, New Hampton, Franconia and Concord.
The manpower increase aims to mitigate a backlog of benefits claims the lone fire academy mission couldn’t handle. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Sean Pinsonneault, officer in charge of a newly erected call center on Hazen Drive in Concord, said thousands of claims went unanswered.
The citizen-soldiers and airmen are serving communities on multiple fronts; from alternate care sites and food banks, to the warehouse management of Strategic National Stockpile supplies. But it’s a small, centralized mission that’s making an equally positive impact: a call center supported by 19 airmen, tucked away in the basement cafeteria of the state fire academy.
The 22-year-old personnel specialist from Milford balances bodybuilding with her full-time Guard career and night classes at Plymouth State University.
